Bach Partita No. 2 Allemanda and Giga
Viotti Concerto

3/8/11
Viotti Concerto
Started new piece - Meditation from "Thais"... I love this piece. It is BEAUTIFUL.
Meditation

3/15/11
Spent a while on the Meditation, working on phrasing on the first page.
Lots of time working on my Kinhaven audition recording (partita)

3/17/11
Spent pretty much the whole time recording the partitas for Kinhaven

3/25/11
Worked on refreshing Praeludium and Allegro for LRYO... note to self... make sure I have lots of rosin on my bow!!!

3/29/11
Spent a lot of time on Viotti. I have questions for Joana about fingerings on the last page, but otherwise, it's going really well, and should be considered "polished" soon. I also spent some time working on the Meditation - it is SO SO pretty. My biggest obstacle is dynamics - I am still learning the notes so I forget to read the dynamics.

Viotti Concerto No. 23

4/6/11
Worked on the first to pages of Viotti and the whole Meditation. I'm working on adding phrasing and more dynamic differences, and working on "performing" it which Joana talked about a lot in my lesson yesterday.

4/18/11
On the Meditation, I ran through it to get it back under my fingers, then I came back to the lab and listened to the recording while following along on my music. I marked a couple of spots - it's really helpful to be able to hear the piano accompaniment to gauge the feeling of each part of the piece. Then I went back and practiced running it a couple more times (it helps to run it a ton just to help it become more automatic) really focusing on the dynamics, phrasing, and time.
I worked on the beginning of the Viotti. I need to run it a million times to get it really ingrained in my memory, and I need to work on getting it much faster.

4/20/11
I worked on the Viotti. The beginning was pretty much just a run, because it went well, and I spent some time really working the last 2 pages.
I also ran the Meditation, working just a couple of measures of spots. I think it's very close to polished.

4/22/11
I spent the whole time on Praeludium & Allegro to prepare for next week. I ran a couple of spots a lot, and ran the whole piece a couple of times. My arm hurts.

4/26/11
I ran P & A once and then worked on the ending a lot, because where would it be without a dramatic ending?! I also ran the Meditation, to keep it under my fingers and apply some of the new concepts Joana suggested at my last lesson.

P & A

5/4/11
I ran through both the Viotti and the Meditation rather quickly so that I could move right on to my all state pieces. If I hit a bad spot, I would work it for a little bit, then keep going.

4/9/11
Ran both movements of the Bach, started the Viotti but then switched to the Meditation for my video(s):
Violin Repertoire Video #1 Part A
Violin Repertoire Video #1 Part B

5/17/11
Ran both movements of the Bach, worked on the Meditation, then ran the Kreisler. Thinking in terms of preparation for my recital.
